The Elmhollow school board voted this week to move forward with repairs to the aging roof at Cedar Fork Elementary, ending years of patchwork fixes that never quite kept the water out.
The building’s flat roof has leaked into two hallways and a storage room during heavy rain, and staff have grown used to setting out buckets. The approved plan replaces the worst sections and reseals the rest.
How the work will proceed
- Major work scheduled for the winter break to limit disruption
- Affected classes temporarily relocated to the gymnasium wing
- A full replacement of the two leak-prone hallway sections
Board members said the repair was overdue and that delaying further risked damage to classrooms below. Funding comes from the district’s building reserve, avoiding any change to the coming year’s operating budget.
The superintendent’s office said families will receive details on the temporary classroom arrangements before the break.
