The Thursday farmers market on the Elmhollow town green has grown by five vendors this season, its largest expansion since the market moved off the courthouse lawn and onto the green a few years back.
The newcomers add range to a market that had leaned heavily on produce and baked goods, and organizers say the added variety has drawn steadier crowds even on cooler evenings.
Who’s new this season
- A valley creamery selling fresh and aged cheeses
- A small orchard offering pressed cider by the jug
- A waffle cart that has drawn a line most weeks
- Two growers specializing in cut flowers and herbs
The market runs Thursday afternoons into the early evening through the end of the growing season. Organizers are still accepting applications from valley producers and say they hope to add a covered stall or two before winter.
Vendors report that the later hours have brought in commuters stopping on their way home, a group the market had long tried to reach.
